Consuls Requests
A CONSULS REQUEST is a patron initiated service for finding books and non-print sources from the Connecticut State University Library System. Patrons can directly request books that are held by Central Connecticut State University, Eastern Connecticut State University, and Western Connecticut State University libraries. To obtain books from any of these libraries you have two options. You can use the "REQUEST BOOK" function in CONSULS to order your books, or you can go directly to these libraries with your Southern ID to check out material. The “Request Book” icon will ask you for your student ID and for your library PIN. If you don't have a PIN go to: http://www.library.southernct.edu/offcampus.html for information on establishing a PIN.Books from the Connecticut State Library in Hartford can not be requested, but you can check out for any books that say “available” directly from the library. Many books in the State Library are reference and will say “library use only” and must be read in the library. Interlibrary Loan forms ARE NOT to be filled out for the purpose of requesting books through the CSU Library System. The Interlibrary Loan Department will not process any material that is held by any of the libraries in the CSU system. These forms will be mailed back to you and may delay your research. Journal articles CAN NOT be directly requested through CONSULS. Instead, please fill out the journal request form available at the Circulation desk or online at: http://www.library.southernct.edu/illjournalform.html
