Student Library Privileges

Library Card

Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Connecticut State University System may borrow library materials from any of the CSU libraries. All library patrons must present a current, valid University identification when checking out material and agree to abide by all applicable policies.

Southern Connecticut State University library patrons without an ID can obtain one by going to the Wintergreen Building, Room 109. See Hours of Operation, on the Card Office website.

Library Circulation Policies

Undergraduate and Graduate Students

SCSU undergraduates and graduate students are responsible for all books checked out, as well as any fines accrued. You can check out a maximum of 25 books from the CSU Library System (Central, Eastern, Southern, Western and the Connecticut State Library). Requests for books from any other CSU libraries can be done through the CONSULS catalog and will be sent to Buley by campus courier. You also can check out library material by going directly to the library. The Connecticut State Library is not a participant in the campus loan system. You can fill out an Interlibrary Loan form and we will request the material from the State Library. You can also visit the Connecticut State Library in Hartford and check out the material directly from the library.

SCSU books circulate for 28 days, with the option to renew twice. Library books are subject to recall after two weeks and must be returned. The due date for the requested book will change to a two-week status. Students are not allowed to transfer their ID cards or borrow books for other individuals. Please report all lost or stolen cards immediately or you may be held responsible for any library materials borrowed.
