FY2001 Library Materials Funding

The Southern Connecticut State University administration and the CSU Board of Trustees approved a request for a 12% increase in collections funding for the Library in FY2001.  This increase presents an opportunity to continue assessing collection strengths and weaknesses, to target those areas that are inadequate, to add online resources, to participate in cooperative efforts with other libraries, and to take advantage of opportunities for developing some truly excellent collections.  The materials budget has been allocated as follows:

Book Fund Allocations

The Library Collection Development Committee has adjusted book fund allocations to reflect curricular changes, new majors, and unique needs. All figures have been rounded up to the nearest one hundred dollars, and the separate allocations established in FY2000 will continue, with adjustments based on FY2000 spending patterns.

Librarians and the department faculty will continue to work together to build the best collections possible with available resources.  Teaching faculty will be encouraged to recommend titles to the librarian assigned to coordinate collection development in their subject area.  The library faculty are ultimately responsible for determining the scope and nature of the collections.
