Search tips:
Click on the Advanced Search tab. Advanced search mode helps structure your search:

Typing in your search terms:

Multidatabase v. individual database searches:
To select multiple databases, use the Specific Databases pull-down menu.
Journal Articles Only: Clicking in the box will eliminate other kinds of materials, like book chapters.

Thesaurus: An academic discipline often has a unique language of terms specific to it. The thesaurus can help you determine whether there’s a discipline-specific term for the idea you’re researching.

Reading results & refining your search:

In the example below:
The title of the article is “The Prevalence of Stuttering, Voice, and Speech-Sound Disorders in Primary School Students in Australia.”
The authors are David H. McKinnon, Sharynne McLeod, and Sheena Reilly.
The article was published in volume 38, issue 1 of the journal Language, Speech & Hearing Services in Schools and appears on pages 5-15.
It was published in January 2007.

You can view the article abstract or summary by clicking on article title or View Record.

Peer-Reviewed Journals: Clicking on this tab will eliminate results that appear in journals that are not peer-reviewed (e.g. trade journals).

Descriptors: Clicking on a descriptor will change your search and show you all the records that use the descriptor as a keyword. The descriptor list can also be used for brainstorming—they can help you rephrase a search for more targeted results.

Printing articles:
CSA databases do not contain full-text articles, but we might have online access through another database.
Click on the button and a new window will open. If you see Article, the article is available online and should appear when you click the Article link. Example:

If you do not see Article, please talk to a reference librarian.
