Interlibrary loan services are available through Hilton C. Buley Library for SCSU students, staff, and faculty. The purpose of interlibrary loan is to borrow books and journal articles not found in the Connecticut State University Library System. Interlibrary loan is not available for library patrons with special borrowing privileges.
Materials requested through interlibrary loan are located using OCLC, an automated interlibrary loan system. Most of the time, a lending library can be located in Connecticut, or a nearby state. The lending library will ship us the requested interlibrary loan books. After processing the material, the books can be picked up at the Circulation desk. Books coming from out of state may take up to two weeks to arrive. Journal articles are normally mailed but may also be transmitted by electronic means if the format, equipment, and software are available. The Interlibrary Loan Department will mail articles that can be kept by you.
Interlibrary loan forms for journals and books are available at the Circulation Desk. Use the yellow forms for book requests and the blue forms for journal requests. Please print or write legibly. The Interlibrary Loan Department will process only five requests, per patron, per day during the busy periods.
