Law Resources: Finding Articles and Briefs

Use the Law Reference page to find encyclopedias that provide summaries of law and landmark cases.

You'll need a library PIN in order to access dtabases from off-campus. If you don't have a PIN, follow the directions for creating one.

Law review articles:

Westlaw has an extensive collection of full-text law review articles. Select "Journals and Law Reviews" on the main LAW search page. You can choose one or all states from the pull-down menu. Law review articles are lengthy essays written by law students, law professors, and practicing lawyers. They are long, heavily footnoted, and attempt to thoroughly examine a topic.

Transcripts and briefs:

Westlaw provides a link to "Briefs and Other Related Documents" on the first screen of a case. Search for a case by name, citation, or subject. when you click on the name of the case in the result list, you'll see the link under the parallel citations.
