Update on the Theses, Oversize, And Juvenile Collections

JUVENILE & OVERSIZE COLLECTIONS INFORMATION

Availability: Most of the Juvenile and Oversize collections, both fiction and non-fiction, will circulate for 28 days with the option to renew.

Location: These books are currently housed in the old Student Center and are in closed stacks. Library patrons should fill out paging slips for their book requests, and the material will be brought back to the Circulation Desk at Buley Library.

Retrieval and Catalog Information:     

Fill out paging slips at the Circulation or Reference Desks and submit these requests to either desk. Library patrons can pickup books at the Circulation Desk. The books will be kept at Circulation for 10 working days and will be returned to the Student Center after 10 days.

The following is an example of the Consuls catalog record. All Juvenile and Oversize books will say "Available" in the status field. The note field will indicate that the book is "OSC CLOSED STACKS" and you should request at the Circulation Desk.

Interlibrary Loans: Books and journal articles that are not found in any of the CSU libraries can be requested through Interlibrary Loans. Please remember that receipt of book or journal requests may take from 1 day up to 3 weeks. You can fill out a print ILL form from the Circulation Desk.

Availability: Most theses, from 1996 to the current year, have been returned to Buley Library. Check the Consuls Catalog to see if the status field indicates "Available." These theses can be checked out for 28 days, with the option to renew. Below is an example of a thesis that can be checked out. Note that the status field says, "Available."

Microfilm: We have Southern Ct. State University masters’ theses available on microfilm from 1955 to 1983. Our microfilm collection is housed in the old Student Center and will need to be requested. For thesis requests fill out the forms kept at the Circulation or Reference Desks.

Interlibrary Loans: Interlibrary Loans will try to find a Southern Connecticut State University dissertation not available in print or online. Please remember that receipt of a dissertation request may take from up to 3 weeks. Many libraries will not lend dissertations or theses.

All books that were stored in the Art Gallery on the ground floor of Buley are still not available. The books that have the location status of "SCSU CLOSED STACKS" as listed below may be found from another CSU library. If you can’t find in the CSU library system, you can use Interlibrary Loans to request the books.
